Cherry Kitchen Under a Vaulted Ceiling
A full run of made-to-order cherry cabinetry worked around a vaulted ceiling, a skylight and a wide garden window.
This is the clearest example we have of how we like to start a job. There were no drawings and no measurements, just a magazine advertisement the customer liked and a wall that was nothing like the one in the picture.
The reference had arched openings, fluted pilasters and a run of shelving that read as architecture rather than furniture. We took the proportions off the page, redrew them to suit the actual wall and ceiling height, and built the units in so they finish into the plaster with no gap to give the game away.
The same approach carries into the rest of the room, where fitted shelving and a bar cabinet were built to match. Sketches on a paper napkin, blueprints from an architect, or a picture out of a magazine all work equally well as a place to begin.
